85 hatch manual release

Have the top stored in the lugs in the hatch area. Tried all three release buttons none work. Can I get to the manual release cable through the gas cap area. Any precautions?

I don't believe you can. You might be able to reach it with long-nose needle nose pliers a flashlight and reaching it under the stored top. It should be possible, but I have not tried it.

Check for a blown fuse, If that's not it, then you may have a bad courtest light delay module which also controls the hatch release and the convertible top hatch release on later models.

Thanks Am 86. Did not think I could bend that much. Cable was broken Found the right end and POP. Am looking for the way to get the top storage release handle off so I can get to the latch. I assume the solenoid is in the same area. I am the original owner so I want to keep it original. Quent

The latch should pull off from the top. I had a similar issue with My 88 - solenoid was bad, replaced the solenoid and it is working fine ever since. solenoid was easy to remove once you get the plastic cover off.

Quent, can you just un-screw the front mount/mounts from the floor? might be a opition. Ed
