    Re: 61 jack and trunk

Dave, I got my car back home today (garage floor was being refinished). I just measured the angle in the recessed pocket at 117.5*. My current lug wrench is more like 122* but I think that the real problem is that it has a real gradual bend instead of a sharper bend like the wrench in your last picture.

I looked for an "O" maker's mark but found none. Who knows where this lug wrench originated.

      Gordon,

The closest lug wrench with a "O" forging that I have to a 117.5 degree angle measures as follows:
      18 1/16", 4 1/4", 119 degrees, and 20 7/16" diagonal.
Using some simple math and assuming dimensions of 18.06", 4.25", and a 119 degree angle the diagonal computes at 20.46" (close enough to 20.44"). To measure the 2 "legs" I carefully traced the lug wrench and intersected the center lines to get the intersection point. This method seems to be reasonably accurate.
The wrench was removed from a 1971 Nova (bumper jack dated "1A" (Jan. 1971).
