    C5 wiper problem

I was wondering if anyone has experienced wipers that won't shut off when key is on, Run on low speed all the time. Maybe some of you corvette fourm members may have read a post on this problem or wouldn't mind checking into ( not a member). Thanks Ed

    Ed,

A friend had the same problem on his '97 last year. Common problem through research on another forum, is that water builds up below the wiper motor and shorts the switch closed. Remove the wipers and lower windshield cowl and look down into the wiper motor cavity. I'd bet it's full of water. There are (one or two, I forget), rubber "udders" that are likely filled with debris, and the water can't get out.

Rich, My car is 02 ZO6 thats only been stuck in the rain a hand full of times and hasn't really be driven over a few hundred miles in the last 3 years. I will remove the cowl and inspect though. The cars mileage is just short of 8k. and out of the clear blue one day I started the car and the wipers on low speed ran even know the switch was off. I have a funny feeling the circut in the BCM is sending a ground signal to the circut board that make the wiper run all the time.(stuck on so to speak) Thanks for the info. ED

Hmmm, It seems likely it's not a water problem then. I guess the other possibility if not the BCM, is just a bad wiper switch? Check back in when you find it.

My friend ended up pulling the wiper fuse until he was able to fix his.

        Good Luck,
        Rich
