Maybe this thread should be on an Excalibur site? A friend of mine was cleaning out his back yard and had what appeared to be a C2 or C3 differential with a rear spring, halfshafts, & adjustable strut rods. After I got the assembly home I noticed that the half shafts seemed longer and had balancing weights on the outer ends. The diff. case, and most of the other parts had a choclate brown paint or powder coat finish. I checked the numbers 3899143 3871375 or 376?? date E or F 242. The shafts were 2" longer than on my 66 and the spring looked like an F41 spring with seven leaves and an extra long eighth lower leaf added to make up for the wider wheel base. It had the BB yoke caps held on with allen head bolts. I called him back to ask what it was. He said it was from an Excalibur. I don't really have a question, just thought someone might find this information interesting.

Re: Corvette/Ecalibur??
Several years ago I had the oportunity to have a ride with radio newsman Paul Harvey in his custom built Excalibur and he said that it had a Corvette drivetrain. So I guess that what you have could have come from an Excalibur.

Re: Corvette/Ecalibur??
Back in the early 80's I helped one of our body shop customers get chassis parts for a mid 70's Excalibur and C3 controll arms were used on the front end. That car was a BB too. As I recall, it had VW Bug tail lamps and front fender markers. At the time, I thought it was some kind of kit car as I had never heard of Excalibur. Go to www.Excaliburclassics.com for more info. Look at the Excalibur cars for sale and check out the engine compartment photos, especially the '67 phaeton. Chip.- Top

Re: Corvette/Ecalibur??
Ya rekon that that is where they found the rest of the '67 L/88 engines? There are only 39 surviving cars of the original 20 producedDick Whittington- Top

Re: Corvette/Ecalibur??
Well, I got the case cleaned up & drained some water out of it, through the top vent. According to the bottom stamping AW, (AW W180) it is a 308:1. But I don't show an AW code or a 308:1 for 1972. A drain plug has been added to the bottom of the case.- Top

Re: Corvette/Ecalibur??
If you will be kind enough to take the time to send a note to Eric Mortimer (info@ncrs.org) and tell him which version of the Pocket Spec Guide you have (on the first page) he will be sure this omission is corrected in future editions.Terry- Top

No, it hasn't - the new 4th Edition '68-'82 Spec Guide (Spring 2011) doesn't show an "AW" axle code for 1972.- Top
