Now that my seat belts are back I'm going to take some vacation and get the carpet and the seat covers in. I've never installed carpet before and my existing front carpet is not original and pretty much a bubba job so I can't use it as a guide. I posted earlier and understand how to remove and replace the rubber plugs but looking at photos from the archives and the car today I've got a handful of other questions that I hope someone can give me some guidance on:
Thanks,
Glen
- There is a plastic lip at the top of the rubber plugs under the dash. Does the front lip of the carpet go under this lip and then the rubber plugs are inserted through the carpet?
- Is the edge of the carpet tucked up under the shift console, emergency brake console and cluster or do I need to loosen or remove them to install the carpet?
- Looking at some photos Patrick posted I can see that the cover for the lap belt cover is exposed with the carpet cutout underneath it but I can't really tell if there is a sliver of carpet between the rear of the cover and the bulkhead or if the carpet is just notched out in this area. My impression is that there is a sliver.
- Does the carpet die into the bulkhead or does it turn up some distance on the bulkhead?
- For the entire job I'm thinking that the best plan is to start at the rear and work forward of the car - is that how most people do it?
- Any other info that I may want to consider?
Thanks,
Glen
