How do you get to the back of the door striker plate on 1958 to replace it, or get stuck screws out to place it? Thanks Jim

if you pull the gas tank you get limited access to the latch plates, it's not easy, but you can heat them to get out a stuck bolt or even change out the plate and retainer cage.

I personally would not use heat in that confined area. With the tank out, drill out the screws and remove the plate with the studs in it from behind and do it on the bench. The amount of heat it took me to get them out (on the bench) would have caused damage to the surrounding area of the body. Dan
