62 FI bare block, rare find

This is indeed a rare find. It was from service replacement motor for a fuel injected Corvette and never had a serial number stamped on it.

Or a 250 hp 3 speed from a full size car with the F suffix added.

Especially since the 'F's don't match.

Looks awfully close to the crate '62 fuelly engine we installed in a '62 a few years ago. I have photos of that pad here somewhere. The engine had been stored, in the shipping crate, for almost 30 years, along with a crate T-10, and a complete rear axle assembly. Had been purchased to install in a Jag, but that project was stillborn.

          Dick,
What did that crate motor include? Heads of course, did it include the FI?

It is my understanding that short blocks had a blank pad and long blocks had the assembly info but not the vin. Is that your understanding?

No intake, FI, etc. The FI unit was in a separate crate.

Why do the F's need to match? There are many original struck blocks from both Flint and Towanda where there are distinct
discrepancies in the character size and configuration of the same letter, nothing unusual here.
