Does anybody out there have any information on who is doing a correct job of restoring sill plates and rocker panels to original condition. Mine have some scratches and rock pits in them, but I don't want to send my original plates out and have them come back messed up.

Re: Rocker panel and sill plate restoration
Kurt, I used a place in Califorinia call the King of trim. I will warn ya that if the rock chip are deep or the scratches are deep they will show up after the anodizing. they do get most of the marks out by polishing, Mine had 84k miles so they were some marks left over but all in all they did a great job. there not cheap to have done I think it was about 500. for both the rockers. As far as the sill plates the best thing is to get the repro.s they looked exact to me. I brought a set from paragon.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: Rocker panel and sill plate restoration
Richard Fortier did mine. Like Edward warns, if there are deep stone chips in them, you might be better off to settle for "reduced" chips vs sanding them down too far and being left with a "divot".
Also like Edward shares, this project aint cheap. Be ready to shell out some long dollars for this work as the panels first need to have the anodized finish stripped off them, then the cosmetic work, followed by the re-anodizing. All this plus shipping of some awkward parts gets expensive. I think mine came in a bit less than Edward's. Maybe the chips weren't as bad, and I live fairly close to Richard's shop so I delivered and picked them up myself, saving the shipping. My car only had 43,000 miles when done (last year). I was left with some tiny chips remaining, however, I am very satisfied with the overall appearance. I got full originality and full condition points at last year's national judging (Novi).Don Lowe

Re: Rocker panel and sill plate restoration
Hey Homeslice,
I've done this work for money in the past but stopped to focus on my own project (you know the one). Drive yer ride to lunch tommorrow and I'll offer my humble opinion to you for free.
