    1972 LT1 Coupe GVWR Needed

I'm trying to complete my Blue Certification Label for my 72 LT1 Coupe and need the GVWR and GAWR FRT and REAR. Does anybody have that information for a 72 LT1? Also, if anybody knows where I can have these printed I would appreciate it if you could pass on that info. I have labels already.

Download the '71 Corvette vehicle information package from the GM Heritage Web site.

This label was on a car that was stated just before Christmas and completed after the New Year. Very interesting on all the changes on this label 2 dates different font for the VIN among other items.

Since the GVWR was added in January, GM obviously didn't have the process refined.

Re: 1972 LT1 Coupe GVWR Needed

Bob, what's your car's build date? As Reba states, the GVWR data started during the 1972 model year. My early '72 (Aug 23) doesn't have the GVWR info, just VIN and date (mo/yr).

My Fourth Edition TM&JG shows nice pics of each variation. See figures 9.1 and 9.2 on page 23 (Interior). As the manual states, the GVWR depends on engine size, transmission and body style. Manual doesn't say whether/whether not AC is also a factor in GVWR.

If needed, I can/will take a pic of mine for you.

                Hope this helps...

I can tell you that the GVWR and GAWR numbers will be different based on body style (as others have said), transmission, Power Steering, AC. Other options such as Power Brakes and Power Windows may or may not affect the numbers.

My '72 has a build date of 4/72. It is an LT1 is a 4 speed non A/C coupe with power brakes and steering. It is VIN 1Z37L2S519247, which is 635 cars earlier then the car Roy posted, so I'm fairly confindent that font should look like the one he posted. I just don't know if there would be a difference in weights because that car is an A/C car?

Ken, Is your car a non A/C car with power steering and brakes?

Yes there will be a difference between a C60 (Air Conditioning) and a non-C60 car. How much I do not know, but you could look at the weights listed in the AIM. That will tell you how much the C60 option weighs, but I do nto know how that relates to Gross Vehicle Weight or front/rear Gross Vehicle weights.

Just to clarify, the label in post #5 above is from Bryan Montford's 1972 LT-1 (I believe he has since sold it) it is a C60 a/c coupe and I don't know if he had power steering or power brakes.
                            GVWR is 4010
                            GAWR front is 1890
                            GAWR rear is 2120

Thanks Roy. You essentially have the same car as mine. '72 LT-1 Elkhart Green Coupe with P/S & P/B no A/C. It has a saddle interior. I will use your data to make my certification label and use Bryan's font and layout since it was produced at about the same time my car was.
