Any 55-79 small block oil pan will fit any 55-79 small block. The question is whether it is correct and appropriate for a 1963-67 Corvette chassis application. Only 2 oil pans were used on Corvette small blocks over the 63-74 period. The "5 quart" pan is, by far, the most common. It is what a 1966 L-79 was originally equipped with. The "6 quart" pan, originally used for most solid lifter 63-65 applications and some 70-72 solid lifter applications, will fit a 1966 L-79 as long as it does not have power steering or a steering shock absorber.
The 1975-79 Corvette oil pan, the same as most passenger car oil pans, will fit any 63-74 Corvette as long as the right gaskets are used, but it's not correct or desirable. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
