Repairing 1966 blower motor a/c relay

Does anyone know who repairs these old relays? Dutch

You could try it yourself. If the contacts are pitted, you can open the case (usually just crimped over) and clean the contacts by filing them smooth. In your case, since the high-speed worked but low-med didn't, it means to me that when the relay wasn't energized it wouldn't make the contact between the motor and the L-M divider network. Could be caused by contacts, but also could indicate some kind of binding/return spring issue.

I've used Joe Perri in Chicago to repair/restore relays (also does horns). 312.307.1977

Thanks Garry, what do you mean a return spring issue.

Not a spring physically, but the fact that the movable armature (typically a flat piece of metal) will spring back/return to the non-energized position, thus making the connection L-M resistor divider circuit and the blower motor.

The blower motor relay works like below. Common is connected to the blower motor, the Normally Closed (NC) contact is connected to the L-M resistor divider circuit, and the Normally Open (NO) contact is connected to 12v. The coil gets energized (causing the armature to move from the NC position to the NO position) when you rotate the blower motor switch to high, which then sends 12v to the blower motor for highest speed.

In your case, the NC position is not reliably making contact (armature not returning to NC position) or there is very high resistance (contact points are severely pitted/burned).

        Hope this helps...

I will uncrimp the relay and clean the contacts, and go from there. I did pick up an inexpensive relay from Napa, it works perfect. Thanks for all the support. Dutch
