Both left side brake lights inop but tail lights work normally. Not sure if I lost the brake lights when I recently swapped the steering wheel while also unsuccessfully attempting to make the turn signal cancel function a little smoother. Both brake and tail lights on right side work fine but now no turn signal there either but think I know what that problem is. Can't find any shorts in left side wiring but some minor corrosion at the fuse panel and not getting any juice anywhere from the pink wire connections at the fuse panel. QUESTION: could anything in the turn signal electrics prevent the left side brake lights from working? Thanks for any suggestions from anyone, think I understand why Chevy changed the turn signal mechanism for '64.....jim

Re: 1963 brake lights
Jim,
The parking lights work directly from the headlight switch. The directional and brake work from the switch located on the lower steering column which is activated by a cable from the mechanical mechanism in the steering hub.
The cable may not be adjusted correctly at the switch or the switch may be defective. Switch is readily available and the adjustment is easily made by the clip on the switch.

Re: 1963 brake lights
JR,
Thanks so much for your connection of the brake lights to the turn signal lights. Once I fixed the turn signals, all the brake lights worked again! I had spent several hours tracing brake wiring and none of my references ever connected the two. Although still a spectator, thanks to you I recently took the car to its first car show after only 27 years of ownership. Hope to do better in the future. Thanks again, jim- Top
