I have a 71 LT-1. I took it to a car show the other day, and it ran fine all the way to the show. After the show, it would not start. I took off the air cleaner lid to check the choke, and it was fine. I tried it again, and it started, and ran all the way home. Today, I drove it to the garage to check the CEC solenoid, because it was always on. The car started up fine, and ran over to the garage. I found a loose wire terminal block on the delay relay, and that fixed the problem. When I went to start the car, it would not start. It cranks fine, and the carb has plenty of fuel. I have no power to the coil, with the ignition switch on. I adjusted the start switch on the column for and aft, without any change. What is the correct checkout procedure for the electronic ignition? Should I have power at the coil, as I would with a points ignition? Thanks for the help, Mark

Re: My LT-1 won't start
Mark,I think the T.I. system works on low voltage with key on and not starting the a test light maybe dim at positive terminal at coil. and when the key is turned to crank engine it will get a little brighter. Make sure to check the connector at he module in front of radiator for a good connection and maybe check if there is battery voltage at one of the pins. with key on.

Re: My LT-1 won't start
Also check the ground for the TI box at the radiator core support.
There is a trouble shooting tree for the TI system in the 1971 Chassis Service Manual. Find it and follow it.
IIRC trying to start the car with one of the wires off or the coil (and I do not remember which) runs the risk of damaging the internal electronics in the TI amplifier. Thus following the troubleshooting tree, and not Bubba, works better for the TI system.Terry- Top

Re: My LT-1 won't start
Mark
The most common fault with the starts then does not start is the white/white with green tracer wire from the magnetic pole piece in the distributor. The internal wire is cold worked by the advance plate causing a break in the wire which causes the intermittent connection. But first as Terry suggested do the basic T/S steps before jumping and replacing parts but if all checks out normal that would be my first suspected part for this problem. Also go to Dave Fiedler's web site great T/S tips http://www.tispecialty.com- Top

Re: My LT-1 won't start
i am not sure about your corvette but the C-2 had the TI ground wire attached to a bolt on the black box that went thru the fiberglass. as the fiberglass aged this connection got loose because the fiberglass seemed to wear away and the bolt got loose causing the ground wire to not have a good ground connection. check for corrosion on the aluminum TI block box at the ground connection.- Top
