    3269S pump discharge check valve

I am rebuilding an AFB for a 1962, 300H.P.. A ball check was under the accelerator pump discharge nozzle, measuring .125. The GM shop manual shows a needle valve for the check, but the rebuild kit does not have this part. Would the ball be good to use, assuming the needle is heavier?

I'm having a problem with pump shot on same carb when disassembled had needle check so installed same when installed on car with engine not running accelerator pump works when throttle first opened, when engine running does not on initial throttle operation but then starts to when throttle angle is increased considering installing ball and weight also seen a post about grinding a third of the needle off due to slightly decrease weight not that answered the question but something is afoot possibly with needle
