1964 hardtop inserts on deck lid

Can anyone post pictures of the top and underside of their mid-year deck lid. I am interested in knowing where the gaskets are located on the ferrule that receives the bolts on the back of the hardtop. Does the large gasket go on the outside on the top of the deck or on the underside?
Also what's the best way of securing that ferrule to the deck?
My final question: when the top is not on, are the holes covered by a snap-in cap or are the bolts that secure the top placed in the holes.
    Thanks,

Gene - see 64AIM SectionC07 sheet 6.00, also you can check LI parts catalog section #19 for another view of that area.
Don't have picture of area & car is not accessible at the moment. As I recall these items were shipped in a bag in the glove box, see Section 14 sheet A3.00

There are 2 rubber washers. One between the bezel and the fiberglass deck lid and one that slides on the hard top retaining bolt. Those bolts can be slid off the retainers on the hardtop and are then used to fill the holes of the bezels when the hardtop is not on the car. The bolt has a head like a carriage bolt and a hollow tip into which a small rubber point is inserted. The point sort of guides the bolt into the hole and prevents the tip of the bolt from scratching anything as the hardtop is placed on the car. The bolt is secured with a nut and flat washer.

        Doug and Alan,
Thank you very much for the info and photos. It's just what I needed.
Whoever had the car before me used the bezels and bolts that go on the side of the deck lid instead of what belongs there.
        Thanks again,
        Gene

On my 63, my hardtop was dealer installed as I didn't feel I needed the top until I moved back up north. The dealer provided me with SS caps that pop in and out of the bezels very nicely, and I didn't know or consider that that was not correct for many years.

Also, can any one tell me how you are able to apply the washers and nuts with the deck locked down when you have a convertible top frame folded down inside? I've never been able to do that, rather I've had to prop my top up with a broom with the deck unlatched. That is one reason I only put the top on the car when we move - last time from Illinois to Florida in 2004. It now hangs stately from the ceiling of my garage enclosed in a velcro zipped bag. It will probably stay there until after I'm long gone. I hate it! I once tried to install it by myself using the wench and those rubber tipped bolts were of no help. I ended up scratching my deck real bad. Ticked me off big time. Like I said, I hate it!
