I just removed someone's poor excuse for refinishing the steering wheel in my Fawn Beige '62. It was some type of funky paint that was turning goldish green and rubbing off. After three hours, I got all the gunk off and the wheel looks 1000 percent better.
While it looks excellent for a driver as this car is, I am not sure it is the original finish or has been re-done a previous time. There is almost no grain, which is not unusual.
It seems to have a lot of imperfections- did the factory wheels? Also, were the wheels cast in color, or were they painted? I see a couple of tiny chips were it is dark under the Fawn color.
Thanks,
Charlie
