OK 63 Gurus - The 63-64 TIM&JG indicated that there was a change from the Delco-Remy 1119512 voltage regulator to the 1119515 voltage regulator and that the late 63 and all 64 used the 1119515 voltage regulator but is there a more definitive time window that is looked for in Judging? Can you help on more specifics as to when the change occurred in 63 Corvette production from the 1119512 Delco-Remy voltage regulator to the 1119515 D-R voltage regulator? Thanks, Pete

Re: 63 Corvette Voltage Regulator Change
Peter check out 63, voltage regulator, date
I also checked out my 63 AIM and it shows the 9512 in Sec6 sheet C8.00 as being used without any changes to drawing so perhaps the 9515 only appeared in MY64??- Top

Re: 63 Corvette Voltage Regulator Change
Alan - Thanks for the reply and the info. I checked out the 63 AIM I have and it shows the same info as yours. I also checked the 64 AIM I have and SECT 6, SHEET B4.00 shows the VOLTAGE REGULATOR ASM as P/N 1119515. The drawing was revised 1-6-64. There is a hand written entry RPC-166 after the P/N and Voltage Regulator Asm.
The judging manual is vague on the description defining early from late cars. Quoting a line from the manual is as follows; "Early to late 1963 models used part number 1119512 while late 1963 and all of 1964 cars used 1119515."
It appears that neither the 63 nor the 64 AIM information is helpful in supporting the TIM&JG as far as the use of the 1116515 Voltage Regulator on later 1963 Corvettes is concerned but I'm hoping that some owners of late (built in the last 3 months of 63 production) 63 Corvette owners can help clarify the statement in the 63-64 TIM&JG. I trust the statement in the 63-64 TIM&JG is based some supporting information and/or data.
Inquiring minds and an owner restoring a late 63 Corvette want to know.

I'm not sure if any 63's used a 515 regulator. I have several very original late production 63 on file from many decades ago that still have their original dated 512 regulators.
The entire electrical system was newly designed for 64 which included the new 515 regulator.
GM still stocked and sold the 512 regulator for a short time after the new 64 model cars were released.
As Alan mentioned, the AIM shows no part number change. My original GM copy of the 63 AIM, which included much more information and later entries/revisions than currently available reproduction/reprint copies doesn't show a part number change either.- Top

Re: 63 Corvette Voltage Regulator Change
Michael - As always, thanks for the valuable information. Hopefully, I can get some intelligence as to the source of the information regarding the use of the 515 voltage regulator on late Production 63s. I hope it isn't "classified." I didn't think I'd need a clearance to work on cars. Thanks again, Pete
