    Identify the 396 by firewall (eBay)

    Sort of a quiz.

    eBay item -- firewall with windshield frame and birdcage incl door hinge area. Seller claims 396. IMO, clues might be the non-C60 heater cut-out, coupled with firewall clips for battery cables similar to a C60 car.

    But that's all I can think of, offhand. Can anyone add to this list of L78 identifiers ?

      Wayne,

      I downloaded the pictures and tried to enlarge - but detail was poor at best - It appears that the Vin Plate and Trim Plates are removed from the "Z" bar. If seller would share the vin ( I will ask), it could be compared to data bases to see if it turns up. I really cannot see anything from the pictures to confirm or not confirm that it is a L78 and with the vin being removed (if he has it) there is no way that I am aware of any way to assure it belongs with this clip.

          Can't tell from the photo, but an L-78 won't have the screw hole for the ballast resistor (all had T.I.).

                  Didnt somebody buy a cowl panel just like that a few years ago and the next thing you know it was a complete car for sale . Maybe thats where the vin plate went ?

                      Bill -- that was #22301; eBay front panel for sale, including Florida title & MSO. Trim & VIN tags still in place. Showed up a few years later as a completed car. (see thumbnails below big pic).

                      396 confirmed by S.A.E. hp figure of 53.6 on the MSO.
