    2009 Z06 Battery

I'm thinking it's probably time to replace the OEM battery in my 2009 Z06. The car was built 10/08. Does anyone have any recommendations/problems replacing the battery? I would like to use a Delco replacement. Thank you.

I think your battery should be good for another year, at least. But, if you want to be 100% safe and replace it now, your best bet is going to be a Delco 90-6YR. However, don't get the idea that this battery is going to be configured and appear just like your original battery. It's not. SERVICE Delco batteries are rarely identical to the PRODUCTION (assembly line) batteries.

Thank you Joe. Is this your recommendation or do you have a better idea?

Do you mean as far as whether to replace it now or as far as the best battery to use?

As far as the battery goes, I think that the Delco 90-6YR is probably the best overall choice. I like using Delco batteries in GM cars even though they might not be the absolute best battery out there, especially since GM got out of the battery manufacturing business a long time ago.

Best battery to use. I see that the battery is vented and Delco might be the only way to go.

FWIW, I bought a new Z06 in may 2007 and sold it in April of 2012 with the original battery working fine. The car had 18k miles, so it was not driven every day. I did use a battery minder when it was parked.

I am in the northeast, so it does get cold and my garage is not heated. It was driven in the winter as long as the roads were clean.

I used the AC Delco Professional Series when I replaced the battery in my 06 Z06. Excellent batteries. Good idea to keep it on a battery tender when sitting for prolonged periods. I use the C-Tek 3300.

I had to replace the OEM battery (I believe made by Exide) in my 2008 Z06 after a little more than two years. Long story about that, but I think I may have contributed to its demise in spite of using a Battery Tender. I replaced it with a Deka brand battery made in the USA by East Penn Manufacturing. It also has the connections for the vent that the OEM battery had. While an on-the-road replacement may be problematic with that brand, I weighed that against the made in the USA value.

My 2008 was made a couple of weeks after Terry's car and still has the original battery.
I don't think you have to change it until something happens, and that's all I've ever done.

the battery in john maher's new 2008 ZO-6 crapped out while we were at road atlanta one year and gary claudio had one taken from a new ZO-6 the GM had there for a display. my original 2008 battery had a dead cell as it would not charge above 10 volts and it went bad over night as i had driven the corvette to ohio and back the day before
