I would like to know if 64 spindels were painted on each end. If so what color.

Chassis black out, covered most everything in 63-64.

If you're referring to the rear wheel spindles, here's some pics of the trailing arm off a low-mile Calif. '64 (stored since about 1968). You can see the black (paint ? asphaltic coating ?) on the outside hub and drum. Was really heavy on the trailing arm, where I took a Varsol-soaked rag and lightly wiped the thinner areas exposing virgin steel.
