Blower Motor Resistor Location

Were is the blower motor resistor located on a 72 small block non air car and what is the procdure to replace it? The only info I have found refers to air condition cars.

Refer to UPC 1, Sheet M1 of the 1972 AIM. The resistor is part number 3929052.

On my 68, the heater resistor is on the back side of the heater ductwork, just to the left of the heater core location. It's awkward to get at, as there is not much room between the back side of the heater ductwork and the firewall.

After looking at the area, can the the resistor be replaced without removing the heater box?

I was able to replace the one on my 68 without removing the heater box. It took patience and the odd bad word.
