I checked the judging guide last evening. Under Exterior > Hard Top it says owners of hard top only cars should expect to provide documentation of the folding top delete or risk a ten point deduction.

Ugh! now I really do regret passing on the 68 soft top frame in great condition for $500 at Carlisle! So per my original thought, I would imagine photo evidence of non marred attachment areas will not be suffice?

Good catch Michael. I was wrong & I apologize for my error. I should have checked the TIM&JG before I posted. We DO get our panties in a wad over hardtops and soft tops.

Patrick, If you are having your Corvette judged at a Regional or National I suggest before the meet you ask the National Team Leader what you need for documentation. That also might be a wise move even for a Chapter judging. I have seen situations at some chapter meets where the National Team Leader was questioned about procedures via phone. I am glad call phones were far less common when I was NTL.

Edit add: You do realize 10 points is the same number of points you will gain if you have an NCRS decal, battery cut off switch and fire extinguisher. It is nominal in the bigger scheme of 4510 points.

Requiring documentation for a hard-top only car seems very unfair to me. Hard top only was an available option, just like so many other options. As far as I know, folks are not required to present documentation for any other option, including relatively rare options like L-88, LS-6, M-22, J-56, etc. So, why should anyone be required to present documentation for hard-top only option?

I personally agree with you Joe, and believing exactly that was the reason I provided the first, incorrect, answer. I looked at the coming revision, and it still requires the same documentation (whatever that might be) but specifies no points quantity. I honestly am surprised to see that, but it is what it is.

If my Corvette had a hard top I always had it judged with the hard top on. Most hard tops were not used much & were origional so no points were lost. I don't remember any judge looking for a folding top. Put the hard top on & let them judge it.

Great point Joe, consistency should be the prevailing method for judging. But it is what it is for now so I like Terry's comment to offset the potential point loss with the NCRS sticker, Fire extinguisher and disconnect. I will have it judged as is for now and see how it plays out. If it becomes problem I may get a top at some point.
                Thanks again for the clarification.

GOOD LUCK I would find it hard to think you would lose points if you show it with the correct hardtop only.
