I guess it's just like the air lines when a plane goes down. It's always pilot error.

No, but you still didn't answer the question as to what browser you're using. I ask because I had many more issues on IE8 until I dumped it. Firefox works better now than it did a few years ago when I last tried it and I've liked it more the past 6 months or so than ever before.
As noted, check for add-ons and similar that are "guarding" your system. I don't recall what was doing it on my system with a different site but a little investigation fixed the issue.

Take the time, check out your system and I'd bet you can fix the issue.

As usual I stepped away from my computer for 2 hrs and had the completely start over and log in before I could reply. to your Question. I haven't the foggiest idea what browser I'm using or for that matter what one is. I do know that I'm on the computer 3 to 4 hours a day and alway experience problems with this site. I do the best that I can on the computer, but this site is the most frustrating of any site I visit and I attribute it to the attitude of those that run the site.

Re: Why do I have to log on every day?

Ironically old JD had the same problem as Stephen. But I knew exactly what was causing the problem. Problem being I had to log in every time I used this site.

How this happened: A relative came to my house and said to me. Does your PC need cleaned up. Well I said of course it does. So after she left every forum, etc site I used had to be repeatedly logged on to. But I did not get upset as I seldom do even with boo coo annoying phone calls.
I called my "relative" and calmly told her of the issue. She stoppped by a few hours ago and lowered my security crap and now everything works like a charm.

Wow, that is a pretty strong statement.

I use a computer all day for design work, have for years. I recently bought a new upgrade for a design package I have been using for 20 years. I spent several hours fighting with the install. I was on the phone with the tech support folks who were very patient with me, but it seemed like every time I tried to use the program it would not run. I was cursing out the computer, cursing out the new software and calling my distributor telling him I wanted my money back. The distributor was very nice and walked me through the same things I had done before. Suddenly it started working, turns out I missed a setting. Looking back even further with the tech support email exchanges, the setting I missed was in the VERY FIRST email they sent me telling me how to get the program running. But since I "knew what I was doing" I neglected to follow there instructions explicitly.

Bottom line, there are thousands of people using this forum that do not have any problems (myself included). Please make sure that everything is configured correctly on your end before throwing the guys that work very hard to maintain this site under the bus. I'm sure those same guys that have the "attitude" you mention are the same guys that can help you get things running smoothly.............

A browser is the name of the program you use to access and "surf" the internet. If you click on a letter "e" then it's probably Internet Explorer by Microsoft. If you click on a logo that looks like a fox circling a marble it's firefox. If you click on a red/yellow/green circle then it's Google Chrome. If you could tell us which of these you click on to access the internet that would help. See logos below.

                Stephen,

As mentioned in another follow up post to yours it has nothing to do with the moderators of this site and everything to do with how your computer is set up.
Let us know how you access the internet and we will see if we can help you.

So, let me get this straight: you admit you know next to nothing about computers, no one else has the same problems as you without it being their computer's settings, and you then translate this to being an attitude problem with the administrators of this site????? I think you better take a look in the mirror to see who has the attitude problem. I certainly don't have the patience to try and help you like Patrick is doing. You ought to thank him as well. I'll get back to teaching my three year old these same lessons.

First off I probably shouldn't waste my time responding to your attempt to provoke me, but since I have such contempt for people like you that understand computers and look down on those of us that are admittedly computer challenged here goes. Yes I appreciate Patrick's attempt to help. I think your mistaken in thinking no one else has problems with this site. This whole conversation started because others have similar problems to mine.I suggest you nurture the relationship you have with your three year old because your both about the same mental age.

I wasn't looking down on your lack of knowledge. It was your blaming your computer problems on the "attitude" of people that work very, very hard to keep this board running smoothly for everyone.

Jerry, If you can stand another comment from someone with an attitude my recent experiences may be helpful.

I visit this site from both home and work and have no problem being recognized at either location when I visit. My workplace is extremely paranoid about computer security yet there is no problem there.

I recently visited this site from a computer at my part-time job at a local community college. I had to repeatedly log in even during the same session. The college is also very concerned about computer security, and their password restrictions are even more stringent than my workplace. I suspect the security "features" at the college are to blame for my log in issues at that location.

I don't know if this information will help you. I am just putting it out there.

                            Stephen,

                            Thanks for the update.
Would you mind trying something for me?

                            Follow this link:
Faster page loading, less memory usage and packed with features, the new Firefox is here.

Download Firefox and run it. There is no harm in it, and you aren't compromising anything on your computer.
Do not turn on any add-ons for now (if it asks) but you may import bookmarks (favorites) from Internet Explorer if you wish.

Then go to this site and see if you still have the problem. I suspect that you will not and then we can narrow down the possibilities.

                            Patrick

PS I dumped Internet Explorer months ago because of similar issues.

I should have mentioned. I use ForeFox at home, but I am stuck with IE at both work and school. Neither will allow downloading anything to their systems. I did fail to note which version of IE is in use at work and school. I really am not worried about the school issues since I am there so infrequently. Life goes on.
