It's very glossy and as usual the color is a bit off.
I'm not a fan of POR branded products in general.

I used it on my engine Pam. Color is probably quite close, but I can't prove it. Probably a little too glossy - POR-15 tends to be glossy.

If you buy their kit, it includes primer. The problem is it will go on way too thick, especially with primer under it. All GM did is spray a thin coat of paint right over the raw cast iron.

POR-15 will hold up very well. It is an incredibly hard, durable paint, very resistant to gas, oil, thinner, or any chemical. Will easily withstand the temperature an engine sees.

If you are looking for originality, just spray it with a rattle can paint. Someone else here should be able to recommend a paint to use. -Dan-

        Pam:

This topic has been covered before. The SEARCH function should bring up all the info. You can probably search for "POR" or "engine paint" or something similar.

POR paint will hold up well, but is a bit off in tint and texture for a judged car. Seymour Chevy Orange Engine Paint or Quanta Chevy Orange Engine Paint seem to be preferred. Some folks have the factory formula and blend their own.

Check (search) the archives for all the pros and cons.

As others have said, POR products are way too thick and glossy if you plan on having your car judged.
I have used Seymour Hi-Tech Engine Coating Chevy Orange EN-48 with good results.

            Hi Pam,
I wanted to dress up my engine a while ago, so I purchased a spray can of Seymours Hi-Tech Engine Coating to paint the intake manifold and the top & front of the engine. I don't know if the color is NCRS correct, but I bought the Chevy Orange color and it looked very good to my eye. It was a little glossy, but I liked it and my car wasn't being judged. However, anytime gas would get on the intake manifold, the paint would blister within seconds. That I didn't like. So, I then bought a can of Dupli-Color Engine Enamel from my local Advance Auto Parts store because it claims to resist gas, oil, and other fluids. I haven't tested it with any fluids, but it looks good and has been holding up very well. It is also a little glossy, but again I like it (nice & shiny like my polished valve covers). I attached a photo of my engine so you can get an idea of the color & finish.

            Good luck,
            Roger
