I am in the process of installing a new thermostat and while doing so I removed the temperature switch to clean and inspect. I'm ready to reinstall and I checked my shop manual and AIM for torque specs but I'm unable to locate. Is there a torque spec and if so what is it and where can I locate it for future reference?

Re: 63 327/300 temperature switch
Kerry, The temp. switch is a pipe thread and I don't recall any torque spec.s for it. My advice is to use a wrench and tighten by hand. the 327/300 should have a case iron manifold so once it bottoms in the hole maybe give it another 1/4 to 1/2 turn.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: 63 327/300 temperature switch
The correct torque spec for the temp sender is 15-20 ft lbs. I would go with no more than 15, and possibly a bit less.
The info is shown in the 1963 shop manual.- Top
