Need help to ID this part- C1 or C2 Carb??

I am helping a friend identify this part that was mixed in with a bunch of C2 parts. It looks more like a Carter style carb for Ford.
Was this a GM / corvette product? There are no visible part numbers or date to be found externally. "Made in USA" on one side, "MODEL XF" on the other side is all the markings this has. Any thoughts?

    Thanks,
    Pat

I can say unequivocally that it's not part of any C2 carburetor. I don't think it's a component of any C1 carburetor, either. However, if it is, it could only be 53-55 6 cylinder. I'm not too familiar with those carbs.

Thanks Joe, thanks Bob, I looked up model A carbs and seems like a match, thanks for the lead. I had seen carter yf carbs before and thought it looked Ford-like but could not find an exact comparison previously.
        Thanks again guys.

          Pat,

The carb looks like a updraft carb used on early Ford 4 cylinder engines.
53 to 55 (6 cylinder) Corvettes used YH side draft carbs.
I believe the YH was also used on Hudsons and other cars.

Thanks again, absolutely not Corvette or even GM. With your lead I learned it is a Tillotson replacement updraft carb for Model A's sold at Ford dealer, Sears or Montgomery Ward into the early 70's.

John DeGregory knows a lot about that style carburetor. I think He has a model A Ford and is still in a Ford club.

The part in the photo looks like zinc diecast to me.

It is an after market carb for a Model A. Goggle- tillotson model xf carburetor to find out more.

Hi John, Yes, seems to be Tillotson XF from what I can find. On a Ford forum they mention it is a common aftermarket part but it changes the "sound" of the Model A-go figure. As for the material, it is not magnetic so a stab would be zinc? I wish it had more info or date code, the box say "restored 7/4/88". It was tossed in with the other Vette parts, mostly 66 64 stuff.

                          Thanks again,
                          Pat
