    Bolt Identification

    I'm in the process of putting my 1967, 350 HP engine back together. As have moved several times since the engine was disassembled, some of the nuts and bolts have gotten mixed in with others from different engines. Here is what I need.

    1. What is the head marking on the head bolts?

    2. What are the head markings and do the bolts have star washers, for the oil pan and timing chain cover?

    3. Does the double groove pulley, on the front of the harmonic balancer need to be in place before the balancer bolt and washer are installed and torqued?

    So far, the resource books I have are non specific to these, so I need some help

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Regarding question 2, the Fasteners with star washers are for the inspection cover. I don't believe the oil pan or timing gear cover have star washers.

      1) Head bolts have "double circle" headmarking;

      2) Oil pan and timing chain cover 1/4" bolts have captured, external tooth star washer. 5/16" oil pan "corner" bolts have captured split lockwasher;

      3) balancer pulley needs to be installed prior to installation of balancer center bolt and washers.

        Bill,

        In addition to the double circle headmark for the head bolts, my late '66 has some M headmark bolts in addition to some double circle. I assume '67 could have Ms as well.
