    C3 Wiper Door

My 71 wiper door opens and closes properly. However, a minute or so after turning off the ignition, the door opens slightly. I'm thinking it is a vacume problem bot have no idea. I opened the door with the pull switch under the steering wheel for the first time since owning the car. Everything was fine up until that point. When the car is running, the wiper door remains properly closed. It is only when I shut off the ignition does the problem arise. Can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks

    Hi Seth,
I believe the default position for the vacuum controlled wiper door and headlight doors is 'open'.
When you shut the engine off the vacuum is holding the doors closed. I think I would test the relay for the wiper door, and the override switch under the steering column, with a vacuum pump and gauge to see if there is a slow bleed-off of 'control' vacuum that is allowing the door to open slightly.
If the 2 components seem to test properly you might try cutting about 1/4" to 3/8" off the end of the white striped hoses to ensure you have a good seal at each connection.
Do you have one of the guides that instructs how to test the function each component individually? (Dr. Rebuild has a good one if you don't.)
    Good Luck!
    Regards,
    Alan

Turns out problem caused by small crack in actuator door boot! Temporary fix as NOS one on its way! Thx for the help.

If you're referring to the "accordion" boot on the wiper door actuator, I do not see how this could cause the problem you describe.
