1962- Weird electrical problem rear lights and inside console light

Ok, I have a weird problem that just started with our 62.

Everything was working perfectly then earlier today the brake lights, rear tail lights, license plate light and inside under dash light just stopped working while going to a show. The under dash light does not work with the doors open, or by turning the head light switch. Note that the rear turn signals for both sides DO work.

After being at the show I was going to see what was wrong and everything was working perfectly without me doing anything.

Heading back home after driving it 5 minutes it happened again. (BTW I was driving behind my wife who was in the vette, so I know exactly when it started).

I have checked the connections for the rear harness under the dash and they look ok. I have wiggled the directional switch to see if it was flaky. I have looked at the schematics and it is unclear what the common problem is. Keep in mind that the turn signals do always work still.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance,
    Tony

Headlights work? Dash lights? Have you ever replaced/repaired the headlight switch?

      John,

Fixed!!!! One of the wires from the rear harness pulled slightly out of the under dash connector so it was not obvious, but as I was checking each wire I found one loose. Pushed it back in and all is working now.... Still does not address the under dash light specifically, but I suspect there was another loose one when I was checking all wires and I pushed it in as well and corrected that.

      oops.
