Re: trying to finsh 63 restoration
Hi Bill,
You will probably need to do some trouble shooting on the headlight circuit. If you remove the switch from the dash you should be able to remove the wire terminal from the back. You should then find 3 contacts on the back of the fiberboard terminal. One will be hot. One of the others is the up circuit and the third is the down circuit. You can use a jumper to short between the hot terminal and each of the other two. If the lights close when bypassing the switch in this manner the switch is bad. If the switch is OK you can have someone jump the down circuit while you check at the motors with a volt meter. My guess is the switch, either defective or not getting voltage.P1010907-1.jpg
Attached is a photo of a '64 parking brake shaft and switch. I think '63 and '64 are the same.

Re: trying to finsh 63 restoration
Thanks Doug . The parking brake switch is not the same . The headlamp switch is the second new one ,the motors are rebuilt and all the wires in the car are new . I will remove the switch tomorrow I am wondering if the screw retainer could have shorted the post when I tightened it .- Top
