starter configuration question (C2 and early C3)

Is the longer bolt that extends from the 4" cover (the cover faces the front of the car when starter is installed) positioned near the Solenoid for all mid-year and C3 cars and 68-72 years (i.e. rather than being 180 degrees from the Solenoid side). There is a short nut that is 180 degrees from this longer bolt position... Thanks for any comments... Tony

    Anthony-----

If you're referring to the starter through bolts, one of these has an untrimmed (i.e. "indented") hex head. The other has a threaded extension. The bolt with this threaded extension is installed at the top of the starter (i.e. closest to the solenoid) and is used to attach the starter forward brace.
