Does anyone know if 56-57 front door posts are the same as later model C1s? I am referring to the large cast metal post that fits in the door and seals up to the windshield. I believe my car has a later year left door and the post sticks out from the windshield at the top. The contour to the windshield is good, but I cannot bring the top in by adjustable bottom adjustable stud. The right side (original) fits good. Unfortunately I did not photo this and don't remember how the fit was. I know that post has 2 less mounting bolts than the right side. The door is an almost perfect fit to body, so that is not my problem. So I was just wondering if maybe the post is slightly different on 58s & up.

Dan,
I believe the basic shape of the door posts from 1956 through 1962 is the same with subtle differences.
The fit to the winshield on all should be the same as the windshield frame did not change throughout these years.

The 56-7 JM gives a good description of the 56-7 door posts.

Later door posts are not the same. Not sure when the change occurred.

Thanks Gary,

I know the mounting hardware is different, and the rubber weather stripping is different. Earlier ones had a serrated edge and glue, later models the weather strips are held in place with 3 screws. But I am not sure if there are any other changes. I would not think the angle to match the windshield pillar would be different. If this is the case, then I have to somehow figure this out, because it looks pretty bad.

I have the judging guide but not the manual. Not much in the guide on this.
