    Considering Having My Car Judged

I have a 69 I'm thinking about running through the system. The frame has some rust holes and I was wondering how that would be judged. Any deductions for rust holes? The interior is mostly together although, the seats are not bolted down. Wouldn't the seat thing be a simple bolt issue? How many points are assigned to seat bolts?

While you guys are looking that info up, does anybody know any of the 68/69 judges? I've heard through the grapevine they aren't too bright. Maybe they won't notice the seats aren't bolted down. Do they sit in the car when they judge? Are they fat? Anybody have a source for seat bolts?

Should I buy a judging guide? If the folks that judge also write the JG, it doesn't seem like a good idea to spend the money.

Last question...are replacement trim tags OK as long as the color matches the tag?

Thanks a lot. When you guys come up with the answers, I'll have some more questions ready.

    NRCS is awesome!!

      Dick,

Pick up a Street Scene magazine, it sounds like you don't have a clue what a street rod is..........

Mark, I don't see why it would matter if the seats were not bolted down, The airlines are doing the same thing. Just make sure your not holding your coffee on take off.

            Hi Mark,
You may not have to spend any $ on a 68-69 Judging Guide.
I understand the NEW edition has just been released.... so I'll bet there are/will be lot's of free, but used, copies of the OLD edition available to eager restorers like yourself.
You can use the $ you save to buy some reproduction, "NRCS approved", seat bolts.
            Sound like a plan?
            Regards,
            Alan

Alan, Better yet Mark could just pick up a few left over seat bolts from the airline maint. dept. and just use one of there manuels to restore his 69 corvette. Then he would be ready for take off.

                Mark,
All 4 bolts have pointed ends. At 4 bolts per seat, that's 8 points.

I tend to avoid the 68/69 judges. I don't think that they generally put much effort into judging, so don't expect them to think about sitting in the car. Some of them have also been known to be XXL or larger.

Should I buy a judging guide? If the folks that judge also write the JG, it doesn't seem like a good idea to spend the money.
As is said elsewhere eBay will soon have copies of the old JG for you to buy. That's far cheaper and easier. Or, just bring it out to an event and have the judges make a multipage detailed list for you of what is not typical about your car. That will save youa lot of time and effort of having to do it yourself.

Last question...are replacement trim tags OK as long as the color matches the tag?
Absolutely. If you want a red car, paint the Trim Tag red. If you want a blue car, paint it blue. No problems at all.

I think you should reconsider NCRS, and perhaps join an organization that would better appreciate where your car is today.
like the group that has GM cars like this:

Good catch, that makes for an 84 point deduction.....
