67 Alternator Adjustment Bolt, Lock Washer, Flat Washer

I don't have a 67 JG. Sorry for the basic question.

A friend recently bought a frame off restored 67. Gorgeous car.

EVERYBODY that looks at it busts his chops about the Dorman bolt and skinny flat washer on his alternator.

I have a bunch of "correct" headmark bolts. My 63 uses a WB bolt, non serrated lock washer, and a "fat" flat washer.

Are 67's the same?

I want to give my friend the correct hardware to prevent him from enduring further embarrasment and harassment about his alternator hardware.

The car is a 327/350 HP.

Chuck..67 uses flat washer, star washer and bolt with WB being most common..Bill

I agree. Thick flat washer, star washer and bolt with WB, NAT, or RBW headmark.

Long Island Corvette Supply #23-14 has a good picture. They also show/include a lock washer, but the part also states it is for 1963 to 1967. The 1966 and 1967 JM both indicate no lock washer is used.....so I assume it was included for earlier years.

I remember a discussion awhile back, which dealt with the split/star washer issue, and the feeling among some was that BBC used a split lock and a SBC used a star lock. I'm right now picturing the union assembly line workers carefully picking out proper washers from parts bins while working in dimly lit, smoky and generally unsafe conditions. This is happening while nursing a hangover (or still being on a bender) with a cigarette hanging from his mouth while his foreman is yelling at him to hurry up.

Makes finding the desired part in mixed-up parts boxes in the plumbing department of the Home Depot on a busy Saturday morning look like childs-play.......................

On my 67, the adjustment bolt is RBW with star washer and that extra thick flat washer, I can get a pic if you want one. The star washer is typical of the area with flat tipped ends.

Tim, If yuou have a chance to measure the thickness of that "special" washer -- I would appreciate the number.

I consulted the 1966 JM, 1967 JM, and my own 1967 low-mile car to provide the answer to Chuck. I am familiar with that picture, but had to use the one from LICS to show it to Chuck.
