Here's another photo taken of a survivor '67 at the recent Frisco Regional. This photo shows how the body paint line meets the black out in the lower part of the hood. I've seen restorers incorrectly allow the body paint color to follow the inboard contour of the hood profile. The photo shows how the body color follows a straight line and ends around the area of the hood hinge. Notice that there is raw fiberglass below where the body color ends. Very cool car.

Tony
Great shot...Keep em coming...I for one LOVE the original pics so much better than the restored pics...They teach us so much...and I love yellow 67's to begin with...I just painted this margin on my hood this past weekend, along with the overspray on the underside of the stinger...so your pics are perfect timing...ARA- Top

Thanks for the great photos of a '67 survivor car, here and also in the hood weatherstrip Thread.
There are a lot of Threads in the archives about trying to get the hood underside paint correct. Has anyone tried to make a "mask" similar to what was used on the production line, and paint the hood while it's installed on the car (minus the hood support), just like they did at St. Louis?- Top

I posted some photos on another thread some time ago. They show the paint line in various locations prior to the restoration of my '64.- Top

Re: C2 lower hood paint profile
Thanks for the pictures, I remember the other Thread and saved your photos for reference. Do you have any pictures of the paint-line on the underside of the nose-end of the hood while it was off the car? I haven't seen many pictures of the nose-end because you can't really see it unless it's removed from the car.- Top

Re: C2 lower hood paint profile
Hi Scott,
I went back through my photos and found one more that shows the entire underside of the hood. I think I had stripped the upper surface at this time but other than some drips the bottom is pretty much intact. You can see the front edge in this photo. If you want a 4 MB size that you can zoom-in on to get more detail, send your e-mail address to me. Can't upload large images to the site.
