1959 engine paint color code

I recently went to the local auto parts store [advanced auto parts] to purchase a can of engine paint. They had two chevy orange paints and I chose DE1620 that being the part numberon the can. It appeared to be a little more on the orange tint. Is there any number of paint that I should be using for 1959 FI engine? Thanks Pat McPherson 55168

Patrick, for auto parts store paint the number on the can probably refers to that manufacturer's reference only, not a GM number. There were two early Corvette red/orange. The more red for '56 and the more orange began for '57. I have no idea how close your orange is to original Chevy orange.
