C2 Jack Hold-down Bracket Fastener Finish

What is the correct finish for the "washers" on the floor pan side of jack hold-down bracket... natural or black in color? See attaced picture.

    Thanks,

Here's some on a Mar64 - they are in great shape since car got undercoated in 1966.

      Alan,

Thanks for the picture. The undercoating really helped preserve the rivets, mine don't look that nice. I'm wondering if when you removed the undercoating if that may have taken the paint off of them also. I'd still like to see a few more examples to see if they were natural or painted black.

On your jack hold-down spring anchor bracket(s) #3797492, is there a letter "B" stamped in the middle, between the rivets ?

          Wayne,

The letter "B" is stamped on both of mine (1967).

Jim - used a lot of Brake Parts Cleaner to remove the undercoating. That area was a very early cleaning job, as you can see lots of undercoating around it still. I would guess that it was cleaned with kerosine - went to Brake Cleaner later so no way to really tell. If it was a black phosphate washer then it would not take much to remove finish.
I show it as pn 3769610 (Sec 14 sheet C1.00 for 64) Perhaps it was used else where (I do not have a way to search the AIM)
If so it maybe in an area that is protected better.

              Alan and James,

The GM 3769610 Washer was used in two other locations in 1965: UPC 12-A10, item 3 and UPC C60-A4, item 3, which is an interior location, multiple uses on the A/C ducts.

                James,

Here is the photo of the GM 3769610 washers on the underside of my Jack retainer spring brackets. They're not exactly shiny anymore, but they don't look like they were black phosphate. I checked for the interior washers, but all seven of mine are missing. They were used with indented hex washer face screws on the A/C ducts, and apparently someone didn't think the washers were necessary during re-assembly when it was apart at some point in the past.

                GM says it's 7/32" ID x 5/8" OD x 1/16" thick.
