Re: 53-55 side curtains
Mike,
I've seen the rivets, screws, etc. on ebay in the last few days. Still you will need the rubber parts which Grossmuellers and Mary Jo sell. Many plastic wholesalers and retailers can polish the plexi for you. You will need some bowdrill fabric to cover some of the rubber.
You may know that all the 55 side curtains were left over 54 parts and the latest date code was 6-54.
If you need them I have some excellent detailed photos of side curtains from super low mileage (2331 and 3040 miles) unrestored cars for sale. They are included on CD's with about 500 photos per car.- Top

Re: 53-55 side curtains
I've never seen a good one without. I have seen some that the bowdrill came off. Also the NOS parts I've seen (you used to be able to buy the side curtain components from GM) have had the bowdrill. Now since I haven't seen a lot of 53's it could be the earliest cars differed. But I'm cetain the bowdrill was there in late 53.- Top

Re: 53-55 side curtains
I've only seen a couple unrestored sets with the cloth. I've never seen a 53 with the cloth that was unrestored, not that there weren't any. I've seen many 54 sets with no cloth though. I'm not saying that my experience means that your data is wrong, only different.- Top

Re: 53-55 side curtains
The 2331 mile (early) and 3040 mile (late) 54's I inspected this summer both had very nice side curtains with bowdrill. The early car had plexiglass date codes of 12-53. The unrestored low mileage early 55 I inspected also had bowdrill.
The NOS side curtain frame parts I acquired from Chevy in the early 70's had bowdrill but who knows when they were fabricated.- Top
