    Expert opinion C-4

I purchased a 1990, L98 Silver blue Convt. The car did not come with a removable hard top. The car was stored for approx 13 years, and not driven. Jeff Reade sorted out all functions of the car prior to bringing it to my garage. Build date 4/90. My questions are as follows:

    1. The car has yellow Bilstien/Delco shocks dated 4/90, the RPO indicates standard ride, not an FX ride. Would they be correct under NCRS standards. The top and bottom mounting nuts do not appear to have any wear on them.

    2. The mufflers end with 879-L, and 880-R. These numbers do not appear in the JM.

    3. The transmission is a ZF 6 Spd, listed on the RPO sheet in the center consolel.

My friend and I pre-judged the car in all five section in the JM, with judging sheets from NCRS net. To include a mock PV, failed on the C/D Bose unit.

Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

These guys will be able to bring your BOSE system back to OEM specs and operation.

1990 C4's came with two suspension options, 1) FE1 came with Delco Bilstein gas shocks and, 2) FX3 which came with Ride-Adaptive Delco/Bilstein gas shocks. All suspension components for the FE1 and FX3 suspension options, including spring rates; wheel rates, antiroll bar diameter; wheel size, wheel offset; tires and bushings, were the same.

        FWIW.

2605 (34.2%) 1990 Corvettes roadsters came with the ZF 6speed transmission. If your build sheet and consol door indicate that your Vette was built with a manual tranny and your car now has a ZF 6 speed, chances are its the original transmission. The original transmission will have a number matching the car's VIN stamped or tagged to it. Check it out.

Yellow shocks with Delco/Bilstein sticker on it and embossed part numbers on the underside of the mufflers are on my original '89. (Base suspension) Pictures available, email me.

Thanks Bill and Pete. I will now go forward and find a PF-25 original Oil filter. Like finding hens teeth. I have an original Rochester AC Delco 1097C air filter. I need some advise on restoring the rocker covers, the TPI/dist cover, and the Intake runners to like original, any ideas. My ZR-1 never required any LT-5 resto.

Ed, if possible, could you post a photo of you AC DELCO 1097C air Filter?

I am collecting information and photos of the C4 components.

If you can not post to this board, please email me at fulassoc@comcast.net

Pat I would like to send you a photo, but have to admit I do not know how. My only camera is an underwater one with fisheye lens, and it uses film. I can have
one of my family members take the photo and advise how to tranfer it to my computer.

Ed, Congratulations on your new addition. Charlie Fullham, I am attaching 2 photos of the original air filter from my 1992. I understand you are making a collection of C4 components. Notice the 92 air flilter is marked AC SPARK PLUG not AC DELCO. I think those sublte part changes over the years are interesting. Good luck with the collection.

Folks, these are differences I have located to date: 1992-1993-1995 and 1996.

If anyone has any others or has a different one, please let us know.

                      Thanks

Folks, deep in the vault, I have found a photo of an original 1990 ZR1 air filter.

Asked by another member, I only found date codes starting in 1995. I do not have a photo of a 1994 air filter.

Anyone out there with one? It would be appreciated.

I have a pretty good write-up on refinishing your magnesium vale covers. However, its too big to post here with NCRS's stingy file size restrictions. Send me your email address and I'll send you the How To file.

Also, I have an original PF-25 oil filter for an early C4 L98 if you are interested.

Ed, give Dr. Don's a call about your Bose, he has a very good reputation.
