Re: Verifying VIN numbers
Mr. McComas
I appreciate your response.
1) We have been a license, bonded, dealer for 58 years. 2) I am not doing research for a friend. 3) If the business is looking at a trade-in or considering purchasing a vehicle and there maybe a concern with its back ground, then states will work with dealers provided the forms are file correctly w/proof of dealer license. You cannot run CarFaxs and/or Autochecks(AutoCheck is the sourse that Manheim Auctions supports and has a vested interest in) on older cars that only have a 13 digit VIN, which would be 1980 and older. The only reason I mention Alabama was because I ordered a shipping report from NCRS and according to Chevrolet records they indicate the vehcile was shipped to the dealer in Alabama.
At this point, my focus is not on the '75, but my 1970 LT1. As mention before the LT1 is a COPO and Pilot car. I am trying to dig up additional history on this car to learn more of its history. I could easily type 2 pages of notes of information from contacts I have made reguarding this unique car with some very interesting photos and documents.
Anyone know the real name of the person who had the nick name "Jingles" and worked at the St. Louis plant and what his postion was? I do. I have spoke with the individual several times. In a short story this LT1 was shipped to the Corporate office in Detroit. In the fall of 1970 with just 3K miles on the odometer and a year after the factory assembly car, that is correct it was built in mid October of '69, even though the 1969 models were still being assemble thur December 31, 1969 because of the strike, the car was shipped to the Chevrolet dealer in Kalamazoo, MI. I would really appreciate some help from fellow NCRS friends and/or retired GM personal if could provide me with any information about this car.
Thanks
