    56 Brake Master Number

Should this have the number 6456022 with 022 in large font?

large 022, 59 and later. 59 uses metal caps and later cars start using plastic caps.

57 use the small 022, it is the same size as the other digits in the part number.
It also uses the cast iron cap.
They appear on both my early and late 57 Corvettes.
I can post some pictures tomorrow if you would like them.

According to the JG or 56 it says that part # 5454480 and 320-g re stamped into the plug at the front of the fluid reservoir. Te casting number is 5450233 and appears o be on the side of the master cylinder. The cap is cast iron and has USE G-M-C BRAKE FLUID CAST INTO THE TOP OF IT. I could go look at mine which I think is original and take pictures if you want.

Casting number 5456022 cast on side in equal size numbers just above the 1" bore size identification.
Metal plug on end stamped with 5454480

I have some old brake parts; thought I'd post photos to this thread.
              Looking for identification.

              Thanks,
              G

The MC casting number on my 56 is 5450233.
The front plug is stamped 5454480 with 320 G stamped below.

The metal cap has casting number
                5300880
                M
                288

Is the MC on my 56 original? I have no clue, BUT, I've owned the 56 since 73 and the MC has never been replaced. Although, I did rebuild it once.
So chances are good that it is the original MC to my 56.
