Idler Arm #3779185 repo for judging

I need to buy an NOS #3779185 (straight, not curved one) for my Top Flight '75 with power steering. Now there iss a repo being sold with that cast number and GM logo. Anyone have experience of one being judged vs. the real deal? If they're not good enough to pass, anyone know where I can get an NOS one?

    Thanks for the help,
    Tory

Troy, are you sure about that part no.(3779185) Its sound like it is a non power steering car.My 63 is a non power steering car and that is the part no. on it. Ed

      Ed,

I thought #3779185 was correct for '75 with PS. But you may be right about the with power steering being different; I'don't have my AIM with me. I'll have to check when I get home to confirm the number.

      Thanks,

Power steering and non-power steering idler arms were the same. The forging number on the arm was 3779185 for both for the 1963-81 period. The PART NUMBER for the Corvette arm assembly was 3779184. Caution: there is another arm assembly used for 1963 Chevrolet trucks that uses the same 3779185 arm component but a different bracket. It will NOT work on a Corvette.

Thanks Joe, that's good to know.
Have you seen the repo Long Island Corvette is selling - #50-10A? It has the correct forging number and a GM logo. Wonder if looks close enough to pass judging? Any idea where I might find an NOS idler arm?

          Thanks,

The reproduction idler arm looks good to me. However, I have no idea how it does in judging.

You might check eBay for NOS (make sure it's not the one for the trucks with two offsets on the bracket). You'll pay dearly if you find one. The only other place where I know that NOS arms reside is a place that does not sell parts.
