    63 Radiator Cap

I was just browsing through the archives and found some good threads from 2007 on 63 Radiator Caps. The discussion was on non-AC cars.

My question is, was the same cap used on an AC car as a non-AC car? If it was a different cap, what was it?

    Thanks

    Re: 63 Radiator Cap

Harry, I wonder if Nolans book would spell it out? Logically a A/C car would have increased pressure due to higher running temps in traffic. which would need a 15lb cap instead of a 13lb cap as non A/C cars have. Being you have a rare option for 63 it maybe hard to find someone with there original cap still on there car. JM is really of no help. good luck.

Ed, today I went through all of my books, forums and the archives and didn't locate an answer so I figured I would try a new thread. Lots of knowledge here.

I have an RC 6 on the car now, came with the car, but I have no idea if it is suppose to be there.

      Cheers.

Harry, The RC6 cap is a 13lb cap, I was thinking it was a C-1 era cap. or maybe a replacement? Sometime the replacement caps have raised letters instead of a factory original stamp. good luck, Maybe Joe L. has something in one of his parts books.

Harry - From what I have heard and read there is some "confusion" regarding the radiator pressure cap and fan blade assembly used on C60 equipped '63 Corvettes. I had thought the C60 equipped '63 Corvettes were supposed to have a higher pressure radiator pressure cap which would have been the AC RC-26/15# radiator pressure cap as used on '64 and '65 C-60 Corvettes, but the it appears that the AC 307/13# radiator pressure cap which was used on the non-AC Corvettes has been found on the C-60 '63 Corvettes. This seems to be similar to the situation with the fan blade assembly. The C60 Corvettes was supposed to have a 18" diameter fan blade assembly but it seems that the 17-1/8" diameter fan blade assembly as used on the non-AC Corvettes has been found on C-60 '63 Corvettes. Good luck. Pete

Pete, thanks for the info. I was aware of the fan but just can't find anything on the cap. I'll assume it's a 307.
