    Supercharged Corvettes

I know Ford factory supercharged some 57 Thunderbirds but were any Corvettes ever factory supercharged beside the current ZR1?

No PRODUCTION Corvettes were ever supercharged prior to the C6 ZR1 of late. As far as "experimental", tech center-built "one-offs", it's possible. In that arena virtually anything is possible.

I believe that GM did toy with a few 53 supercharged but not sure they were production as Joe says.

Article in Corvette Restorer not too long ago about supercharged cars. Believe the late Dave Ferguson was involved with the restoration.

I remember a supercharged C1 on prominent display years ago at Bend. I think it was one of the nationals, but don't hold me to that. My recollection is the work was done at Chevrolet Engineering request by McCullagh(sp?).

Great article one has to wonder how the 283 would of responded with a supercharger instead of the FI of 1957 which from experanced stories I have heard had many dealer problems. One such story came to me from my brother who at the time was working with my Father Service Manager of Benson Chevrolet in Brooklyn N.Y in 1960. My brother a young teen who dropped out of school to become a mechanic remembers that some big shot from the Zone office came down to set up a customer who was having trouble with his newly purschased F.I Corvette. My brother tells the story after the expert from chrvrolet made some adjustments when the car was started they had a fire to condend with. The story is true although I know some owners never had issues with the original F.I. cars.
