Re: 62 horns; Where can I get them?
Thank you Larry, I finally put in the right info in the advanced search and found Joe Perri in a post. He has an original set. Now the question is dated or not. My vin is # 104777 so I was built on the first day in January. On average for jan they made 73 cars a day. the month started with 104767 and ended with 106234 so I took a SWAG at it and said it was one of the first ones built on the first day in January 62. That said I don't know if it should be dated. Any ideas? Joe- Top

Re: 62 horns; Where can I get them?
My original '62 horns are stamped 2D4 (#442) and 2C2 (#441) which I would interpret to be 62-April 4 and 62-March 2. My '62 is #13078 and built 6-22-62. Other similar Delco Remy horns that I picked up for parts also are date stamped.

Re: 62 horns; Where can I get them?
Thank you Larry, I spoke with Joe Perri who sells and restores horns and he mentioned that begining in jan of 62 they started date coding but that it took about a month after that to get them down to the line to be installed.- Top

Re: 62 horns; Where can I get them?
Joe,
I have a box of original 1962 & 1963 Delco-Remy horns somewhere in my garage that I collected in the salvage yards back in the 1980's. None of them are Corvette but rather Chevrolet, Cadillac, etc. The only difference is the bracket and stamped numbers. They all "rattle" and need to be rebuild. If you want a pair for real cheap money send me a PM.

Re: 62 horns; Where can I get them?
Joe,
While cleaning my garage this afternoon I came across the two boxes of 1962-1963 GM horns. My "430" horn from a 1962 Cadillac does not have a stamped date code. On my tag I have written "62 Cadillac" and glass codes "JI (May 1962) and "LI" (March 1962). The "L" bracket (3 5/8" & 1 5/8") on this 1962 horn is similar but not exactly the same as the 1962 Corvette horn "L" bracket. The Cadillac "L" bracket does not have the two dimples at the bend but rather a cut-out notch as shown in my 1st photo. I took the Cadillac horn apart because the main horn part was cracked.
I also have a 1962 Chevrolet truck horn stamped "427" and "2E5" (May 1962, 5th week). The "L" bracket (4" & 1 7/8") on this horn has the 2 dimples at the bend as well as a cut-out notch at the end on the bracket (2nd photo).
