    Need Some Parts Advice

Just to be clear I'm not marketing these on this thread, Just need to know if they are worth anything!

I found a set of Big Block Exhaust Manifolds, at a local flee market casting dates of k-25-77, Since no big blocks where produced after '73, are they worthless?

    Thanks, Tony

Tony, Put the casting numbers on your post and maybe someone like Joe L. can tell you what else they fit.

1974 was the last of the 454'S I wouldn't think they would be of much use to a Corvette guy.

Casting #s are 3880827 and 3880828 they are in great condition but I would think they have no valve to corvette people just thought I would seek everyones advise.

With the '77 dates, they are probably GM across the counter manifolds. Yes they do have value. Judges cannot read the casting dates when installed on the car.

            Tony-----

These manifolds were used only on Corvettes and 1966 L-72 passenger cars. The 3880827 was used only from 1966-69 whereas the 3880828 was used from 1966-74. There are two finished versions of each manifold, with and without AIR fittings.

Yes, these manifolds very much have value. Besides being applicable to Corvettes, they are the best cast iron manifolds GM ever made for a big block. They don't fit many non-Corvette chassis, though. Check eBay for selling prices and I think you'll find these rarely sell cheap, regardless of date. To a lot of folks, dates are not important and, as Dick says, they can't be seen anyway once installed.

Another interesting side note here: most, if not all, originally installed manifolds were cast at Tonawanda and have a large "T" cast on the outside surface of the manifold. Some SERVICE manifolds were cast at Danville, IL and have a large "D" casting mark. However, the Tonawanda manifolds were cast of gray iron whereas the Danville manifolds were cast of malleable/ductile iron. The latter is a much better material. If you compare a Tonawanda and Danville manifold you will note a subtle difference in the texture and finish of the manifolds due to the different materials.

Well Thanks to all for the information, Joe these have the T on them and of course the AIR holes. I think I will advertise them this winter in the Drive Line, ebay or craigs list.

              Thanks again
