72 vin plate

A friend just bought a '72 at an auction...nice car but not original. helping him fix minor problems. just wondering....where's the vin plate supposed to be?? the trim tag is on the driver front door post...looks new. as always thanks and happy holidays

Thanks for your reply. I thought that..as I stated in my question where is it SUPPOSED to be ....guess he'll have to find the tag. john g

It can only be viewed through the windshield in a "cutout" in the interior pillar post trim. Sometimes, the trim piece "dislocates" and covers the VIN plate.

If there's no VIN plate there, then he's got big problems.
