Fuse in wiring harness-1958- John Hinkley others

I fried my ignition harness- (short in FI solenoid wire). Need help with part number of fuse holder amperage location etc. I know its in the archives but could not find it. Also is there any chance of collateral damage, such as ignition switch. The wires were fried from the FI wire where it was pinched under the plenum to the switch on the dash.
    Thanks!!!

    John -

I'm not familiar with '58 F.I. wiring, but the Corvette main power feed circuit wasn't protected until '67, when a fusible link was added at the battery cable stud on the starter solenoid and at the horn relay screw terminal buss. Your 12-ga. black feed wire from the starter solenoid to the ammeter would use a 16-ga. fusible link, although some have used a 30-amp fuse instead. Photo below of a typical fusible link (link in photo is 14-ga., you need a 16-ga.). Maybe someone more familiar with F.I. wiring will chime in.

On my 59, I fused mine at the ignition switch with a 30 amp fuse that lights up when blown. Easy to see when you look up under he dash. I actually blew it once when I shorted the cigarette lighter circuit, forgot to use the battery disconnect switch.
