    57 Intake Gaskets

What is considered the correct NCRS intake to head (i.e.. side gaskets) gaskets for a 57. Is it round tab, square tab, no tab, or a triangle tab??

    Jimmy,
I have an NOS set from 1957 in the old type paper envelope. I'll check and report back when I get home.

      Jimmy,

Info is in the '56-7 JM including a photo. Square tab with GM on both the side and end intake gaskets.

            All-----

Keep one thing in mind: I believe the "tabs" in question were a means of identifying the manufacturer of a gasket (without removing the manifold). So, it's possible that more than one manufacturer supplied gaskets during any period of time. It could very well be that one manufacturer PREDOMINATED during any period, but that's not to say that others might also have been originally used.

The most common supplier of these side gaskets to GM for many years was Detroit Gasket (now Corteco). McCord was a close second.

                Gary,
Thanks. Not a bad part for a C3 guy. That set was found at a swap meet in NH around 8 years ago. My good friend NCRS #775 found it and I was lucky enough to wrestle it away.
