Re: mid year NOS door window run W/S questions
Keith I found a couple of NOS ones for my 63. there are no suprises when installing. I have a frenid that used the repro ones and they were a little work installing as they do not have the curve of the channels as the NOS ones did. so that ment bending when installing and riviting.New England chapter member, 63 Convert. 327/340- Chapter/Regional/national Top Flight, 72 coupe- chapter and regional Top Flight.- Top

Re: mid year NOS door window run W/S questions
The ones in the driveline are very pricy. Dad went though at least five sets about fifteen years ago for his 67 coupe until he got some they were decent. I wassent sure if the quality has improved since then.- Top

Re: mid year NOS door window run W/S questions
I assume, You are referring to the window channels for the glass? I just purchase both the front and read for a '64 convertible from a large supplier in Michigan and they fit perfectly. I did have to perform some bending and fitting for the inside and outside wiskers. My car is more of a driver than a "jusged" car. I am not aware of any other differences regarding to judging standardsexcept, the staples I used are SS, but are magnetic. I decided on rust proofing vs original.- Top

Re: mid year NOS door window run W/S questions
I recently installed an NOS set of window runs in a 67 coupe and they are far superior than any of the repo ones that I have used.- Top

Re: mid year NOS door window run W/S questions
Steward, can you expand on how they were better. I am redoing a '64 and purchase window channels from a major vette supplier and they seem to match prefectly with my originals, except for all the rust. They seems to be as strong, screw holes align up great and the curve matches.- Top

If everything looks good on the repos you have, maybe they have improved them.- Top

Re: mid year NOS door window run W/S questions
I was referrin to the U shape channels that support the front and rear edges of the glass allowing the glass to go up and down. The rear one is a curve shape that bolts to the rear of the door and the front one is supported by a bracket in the lower door and then becomes part of the wind window as this channel is runs along the rear of the wing window. The ones I purchase from Paragon all worked and fit great.
Thanks for your information, I value your experience as it changes all the time. Thanks- Top

Re: mid year NOS door window run W/S questions
I know on some one of the NOS parts the quality of the item is not quite what it should be due to the tooling being wore out. Is this the case on the window runs. And yes I am talking about the "U" shaped runs with the fuzzes and steel beed for a coupe- Top

Trivia - I restored a '65 coupe in 1972-3 that had led a VERY hard life, and it needed rear/upper glass channel runs; GM didn't have any at the time, and a check with Chevrolet Purchasing showed the original supplier was USM (United Shoe Machinery Corp.), the manufacturer of Pop-Rivets. I wrote them a letter and enclosed photos of the runs I removed, and they sent me a fresh pair (and a little bag of extra "bubble-clips") at no charge.
Did the same thing with Findlay Industries for a set of black leather seat trim covers, but that's another story.- Top
